HE WHO IS TO COME

Matthew 24:32–33
“Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh.
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.”

In ancient Israel, the first tender leaves of the fig tree signaled a sure change in season—summer drawing close. Christ chose that familiar image to teach that His coming is just as certain, and that spiritual seasons can be discerned by those who watch with ready hearts.
